It’s here, it’s here! Summer is here at last! Whether you work out of the home or are a stay-at-home mom or dad, the kids still need something to do to fill those summer days. Here are a few ideas for free (or almost free) summer fun in the greater Charlotte area.
10 Park Lanes on Montford Drive is offering two free games of bowling daily for registered children, ages 15 and younger. You do still have to pay for shoes rentals, but overall it’s a great deal!
Join in the Great American Backyard Campout at Anne Springs Close Greenway on June 27 for some back-to-nature fun. There’s a guided hike, kayaking, fishing, playing games, and hotdog dinner with s’mores. It’s free, but registration is required.
Spraygrounds abound throughout at area parks. The biggest is at Veteran’s Park on Central Avenue. For a smaller version, check out Latta Park in Dilworth.
Take the LYNX and go see a movie during the Children’s Summer Series at Studio Movie Grill at Epicentre uptown. Tickets are $2 for 11 a.m. showings daily during the week.
The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson is happening on June 20. Join thousands of kids and families at aquatic facilities and waterparks around the globe to break the Guiness World Record, and promote swim safety.
Local outdoor movies and music are happening all over the city and in its nearby suburbs. Check out our big list of Outdoor Movies and Music and then pack a picnic to go enjoy an evening outside with the family. I’m making a promise to myself to go to Symphony Park this summer to see a POPs concert.
Cheers to Summer fun!
